Anyone with a 23-up have any rear end issues? My DRW is starting to make a sound when turning in parking lots and I think it is starting to whine at highway speeds. Going to take it in to get it checked out.
Well took it to the dealer where an incompetent service department was telling me that my vibrations and rear end whine are going to be a problem because of my LIFT and wheels/tires. I felt my face flush with anger lol. I said LIFT??? I do not have a lift. My truck is stock except wheels/tires and you should tell the tech he needs to not be working here and go back to school. Then asked did they even put it in the air and check it. I then proceeded to tell the manager when he came out that they could not deny any warranty for wheels/tires and even their sales people put wheels/tires on new vehicles and jack the prices up and honor warranty. What’s wrong with these goobers they hire these days?
service manager admitted a different tech heard the rear whine and they would have to reschedule at that point. So I rescheduled a week later.
Oh yeah forgot. So then a week later I went back to put a vibration checker machine inside the truck that would tell them where the vibration was coming from and also they would check the rear end. Get to the dealer and sit and wait for an hour then the service guy comes out and says we got a problem. One of our diesel techs called in and the vibration machine isn’t actually here. We are going to have to reschedule you. I’m like good grief at the fuel I’ve wasted and the time at this point. Waiting on a call back to reschedule again. About time to switch dealers I think.

Give a little more detail, all I get from this is your 23 Dually makes noise. What gear and is it limited slip or open? Your aftermarket wheels, are they same diameter, width, offset as stock?

Just turned 6,000 miles. FX4 package 3.55 gears limited slip. Had vibration with stock tires and wheels since brand new at varying speeds. Told dealer themselves about that and the scratched factory rim it had on it the day I was thinking about buying it. They reached out to Ford about the scratched rim and Ford wouldn’t replace it. So I decided to buy new ones which I would have done soon. I replaced with new wheels and tires. Went from 17” to a 20” with 35s and didn’t change the vibration. Not the point though. The vibrations were always there before hand and they have record of it.
There have been reports on here before of new trucks being delivered with low oil levels in the rear ends. Start there and see if the oil has any shiny bits in it when you check it. That should have been one of the first things the "tech" did.

Pinion angle comes to mind as well as low fluid and lack of friction modifier in the case. Check the level yourself, don't assume the dealer did it. The LS rear end can make noise when turning since the whole purpose is to lock the two wheels up in a straight line. Too tight of an LS can cause clicking or clunking from the rear, but NOT a vibration, so you may have two issues here. Since it vibrated with the stock rims and aftermarkets, you eliminated wheel tire issues, so that leaves the drive line from the transmission back to the wheel bearings. If Pinion is off, it can cause binding of the U-joints which leads to a vibration.
Try this, find something that weighs 2000 pounds and load it in the bed. If the vibration goes away, or gets worse, then have the pinion angle checked. It should go away if its the pinion angle. Look for any seeping oil around the pinion seal, if the pinion is that culprit, eventually it will cause the seal to leak. Beyond that, its a deep dive into a bad part somewhere.
