Question Cleaning a engine

i gotta ask this.............my engine is need of cleaning. A guy told me that was a dumb idea to steam wash it because of the computer gadgets on the engine. Is he correct? If not... whats the best way to clean it and what should I look out for??

The main thing is to NOT aim high pressure at anything electrical.
It's ok if you get it wet but high pressure water can get into sensors, connectors etc.
After you're done cleaning it go for a drive to make sure that it gets warm enough to get rid of all the water.

You might buy some De-greaser and spray what you want to clean then just hose it off without high pressure washing.
Everything under the hood should be water tight and just hosing things down won't hurt it.
