Has anyone used the cometic gasket for the intake plenums? Just did a set on an early 99 with the flat aluminum style plenums but only have about a month on them so far. Does anyone think it's a bad idea ?
If your plenums are in good shape those gaskets should work fine. But I see alot of folks mangling the plenums when removing, plus when scraping the old sealant off.

I don't know that I would trust a gasket with the stock plenums myself
What about using the cometic gasket when upgrading to 3” cnc fabrication plenums? What’s pros/cons of gasket over sealant
so I have a buddy that used the cometic gasket with the upgraded intake plenums. So far so good. We did it a little after i posted this forum. Still good
you are correct. They will both work. I do think it is worth noting that RTV is their standard option, but you can upgrade and include the gaskets as your discretion. I would take that as an indication that the gaskets would do well.
with new billet plenums, you can probably use either one. With the thin stock plenums, I would probably lean towards the RTV. Either way, a clean mounting surface is crucial to making either one work.
