Hello,
Proud owner of a 2024 F250, Diesel. Also just got a 32" bumper pull trailer. First time pulling a trailer around and wanted to see behind the trailer so I bought the Ford Trailer Camera kit. Been looking for installation tips and tricks and have not found very much information. If anyone has any links to installations that would be very helpful. As I look at the installation instructions the following questions come to mind. The instructions are for both TPMS and Camera, for just the camera, I don't think I need to do anything to the plug on the truck. There is the 7 Pin trailer plug, with a smaller plug below that, is that for the camera?
How are folks routing the cable? It has grommets towards the ends, but I don't think I want to be drilling big holes in the trailer and don't think I could snake the cable in the walls anyway. I'm thinking of routing the cable underneath. The cable is pretty think, so aesthetically having it running down the back of the trailer is not optimal (Cut off the grommets), are the zip ties included with the kit the best think to use? Again, the require drilling holes. Is higher better for the camera mount? There is a minimum above the bumper, but I was thinking maybe around the Furiion camera mount. Thanks in advance for any help!
The 12-pin below the 7-pin is for the camera/TPMS harness. I replaced my 7-pin over 4-pin at the bumper with the 7-pin over 12-pin because I have a 7-pin to 4-pin adapter. If anyone is curious the 12-pin connector already exists above the spare tire and it had a dead head plug in it.
I never installed the camera on my 5th wheel but I modified the harness for the camera only and installed it on my truck camper since the camper obstructs the CHMSL camera and tailgate backup camera. Since I removed my tailgate and used the factory tailgate removal kit to block all of the tailgate connections when the trailer camera is plugged in it works as my backup camera.
Thanks! The camera kit does have a pigtail for the 12 pin connector. Good to know that I can find it by the spare. So the 12 Pin Female connector will replace the 4 pin connector that is there?
Correct. You unplug the bumper connector with the 7/4 pins and replace it with the one that comes with the camera/tpms kit. I had the 360 camera/pro trailer backup assist so my bed already had the 7/12pin because of the pro trailer backup assist so I just had to find the dead headed pigtail and plug it into the 7/12pin and it snaps into place in the existing bumper hole.
I removed the pin box on my fiver and drilled a hole straight up into the bedroom closet. I ran the wiring harness a short distance along the floor in the closet until I could run it under the dresser in the master bedroom. From there I went into the basement and finally under the trailer to the back of the trailer. I was able to fish it up through the wall and mounted the camera in the center of the trailer above the back window. If you run the harness from the king pin straight back on the underside of your trailer you could accidentally have your endgate pinch the harness on uneven ground.

So if you decide to go underneath, I have seen where people route the cable up on the backside via the ladder then across to the center. For the topside routing, most trailers nowadays have a covered hole in the roof that allows access straight down into the storage compartment for passage of cables. From there, you may be able to route the cable through the storage compartment to the underside and then attach to the frame. On my previous trailer, just inside the compartment door was a plastic liner to fill the gap between the sidewall and floor. This is where I drilled the correct size hole for the harness grommet.

Can I ask what Part Number kit you purchased. I recently purchased a 2024 Super Duty King Ranch and I would like the integrated camera and TPMS systems. However, I seem to be having trouble locating the correct parts and I have contacted the local Ford Dealer Parts and nobody seems to know anything about these systems, they say I am the first person that ever asked about the camera and TPMS systems for a trailer.

There are 2 other threads on the super duty forums that contain the part #'s you need.
For the wire harness, does anyone know how long it is?
Is there an extension harness if its not long enough to get to the rear of the trailer? Anyone have a part number if there is one available?
Thanks!

I guess this is slightly off topic but same realm. I took the other route and purchased the 4 camera Haloview Byte Tango camera system for my 42' fifth wheel. with the wireless I have no cables to run and will be putting the 4th camera in the bed on a temporary base on the side to assist with gooseneck hitching. The whole kit was cheaper than the single ford camera and luckily my Brinkley came with TST for TPMS. Check out the other options you may be surprised. I will hookup the screen to the Bullet Point Rubigrid base I already have on the dash.
To the Op. If you want to consider wireless and use your main Sync 4 monitor, see the below thread on how to do it. I did it and it's awesome. No running wires all the way back to a camera. Start with post #23 and read down from there.
Thank you for this information. Before I received this update I found, what I am hoping are the correct parts, from Ford and ordered them. I will keep this in mind if I'm not happy with the installation. Because of time restraints I'm going to install the camera wiring up onto the roof and over to the ladder then down the ladder to the frame. Later I'm looking at running the wiring down the rear gray tank vent the comes down inside the wardrobe in the front bedroom. I'll have to see the size of the loom first.

How do you like it? I was looking at the single camera system with TPMS for now and possibly adding more cameras as needed. I was going to go with the Ford Trailer TPMS system, but my truck isn't wired for it. Then I looked at the TST507 TPMS and I came across the new Haloview. My current camera on my travel trailer rarely works and the colors are off. I have all but given up on it.
I was going to go the factory route but my truck doesn't have the 12 pin connector even though we had the gooseneck/5th wheel prep kit installed at the dealer. Apparently the kit doesn't include the 12 pin connections. Anyway because I'd have to install a 7pin/12pin connector in the bed @ $250 for the part alone, that route just got to expensive. I went with the Haloview solar setup. Since it's solar it has a battery and the camera has two magnetic mounting surfaces. I can plop the camera down on the rear bumper when I need it for backing and then remove it and the monitor from the dash when not needed. No wires and a great picture. I don't believe I will mount the solar panel that came with it. The camera has a separate charge cable. I don't need a camera in the rear while driving. My tow mirrors are enough. And if you set the trailer up as conventional instead of 5th wheel and a max length of 33ft I get the side camera view from the trucks camera's when the turn signals are used.
