This might sound like it belongs in the towing thread, but im asking a question specifically for the f350 dually owners (diesel, c/c in particular)
What is the heaviest load you have hauled? Truck, trailer and load?
I know gcwr is 20,000# and in theory shouldnt go over, but who has hauled more and how much?
tagalong (specificaly)/gooseneck/5er
One of my vendors has a run from Texas to New Mexico twice a month (combined weight =38,000 lbs). F350 dually PSD goosneck. 2 different trucks. 1 has 650,000 miles...the other has nearly 500,000 miles. 4 trannys between the 2 trucks (so far). I think he needs to get bigger trucks.
auto or manual tranys? i have a manual... and looking to haul about 25,000# total combined weight with a tagalong (18k rated) trailer for about 30 miles.
Just spoke to him a few moments ago....
Both trucks are automatic. One is in the shop right now, may need a new turbo and/or injectors. I'm not sure what kind of maintenance schedule he keeps. Sounds like he is pretty hard on these trucks.
My F250/5er weighs between 19,000 lb - 20,000 lbs (depending on what toys I have loaded inside). The truck seems very well suited for a load this size. I know the F250 and F350 have about the same GCVWR, but it stands to reason that the F350 should be able to haul a little more weight. You might consider adding an engine brake if you are going to be towing that heavy load. With the 4" exhaust on your truck, your EGTs shouldn't climb too much with the engine brake.
