right now i have a 2bbl carb on my 65 ford f250 that has a 352 in it. i have a quadrajet rachester 4bbl carb i would like to put on it. has anyone experienced any problems with the 2bbl to 4bbl change?
thx for your help
it would be better to get a 4 barrell manifold, because the 2 barrell manifold wasnt quite made for a 4 barrel to restrictive, i have never tried one, but i have heard problems with it if you are on a low budget use it but if not get a 4 barrell intake. the stock 4 barrells are cheap specially fromt he junkyard.
Right. You can get a 390 4v intake for under 75 bucks. Someone on this forum had 2 for sale offering $65 each. The cast iron intakes are good but heavy. Over 100 lbs. I don't know about the Rochester, usually a GM product, isn't it?
Where in the heck are you finding 4v intake manifolds for under $100 at? I would LOVE to drop kick that pile of crap 2v and put a 4v on it, but the price of an intake scares the crap out of me.
Instead of creating problems trying to use a Rochester Quadrad**** carb, and adapting it to a Ford/Holley flange 4 bbl intake, screwing up your back trying to swap said intake, and the cost of new intake gaskets, Instead go buy a Holley 4412 500 cfm 2 bbl carb and in 30 minutes time, you can have 4 bbl performance without all the hassle, by just swapping carbs.
You COULD put the quadrabog on it, using a 4bbl-2bbl adapter, then a quadra adapter plate to make room for the large back bores. BUT, I wouldn't.
Either put a nice Holley two barrel on it, or put the 4bbl adapter on it and mount a nice Holley four barrel on it. I just did and LOVE it. I used a new 750 vac. secondary that I had on the shelf and it runs great and even gets 1.5 mpg BETTER mileage(I did jet it down a few sizes).
Dont bust your back putting a stock 4bbl intake on. You could probably find a good used aluminum one just as cheap anymore.
I put a stock 4v on my 390 when I rebiult it
I had a stock 2v... and since the motor was already out, I figure Id ad something for it. I got it for 30 bucks... And I can prob get more. I'd have to look
But the stock 4vs are pretty reasonable
I'll be giving mine away when I can afford an Aluminum one
alright just email me or tell me in a post if u find one, id appreciate it, i have alot of FE parts so if you need any just ask and ill look once i get to my dads shop ill check them pistons for you to see if they are .30 over.
alright i emailed you just email me back for questions on more parts, because i have more parts i didnt list because i am not at the shop where all my parts so im not sure what all i have, oh i also need a 4 barrell carb if u happen to have one or know where i can get one cheap, thanks
If you can't find an aluminum intake for a 390, then you're either blind or broke. There's a guy on the FE big block forum on network54 that's selling an original 390 hi-po aluminum one for $100. There was another that was asking $350 for a 428PI one.
