I've just purched a ford F250 superduty I love this truck. It's a 4X4
with a 373 rear end and a 5.4 motor I've only have 500 miles on it, but I'm only getting about 11.5 miles per gallon of gas. My 97 ford 150 2wheel drive with a 5.4 was getting 16+ MPG. Any ideas on how to increase my MPG on my 250?
Thanking you guy's in advance

Is it cold where you live right now? This will make your truck use more gas.
With only 500 miles you aren't going to get an accurate mpg.figure.I suggest you give it about 2 or 3 thousand miles before you figure expected mileage.

A lot bigger truck for that 5.4 to pull around, in the summer I get between 12 -14.That was with 35's and 3:73.
I have a `03 f250, crew cab ,5.4l ,373 gears, automatic and i make 11.4 in the city,is warm down here in tampa fl.I did noticed that it gets better as you put more miles on it. I know is pretty descouraging, just remember you bought a big a$$ truck and that`s what is important, just drive it and enjoy it. Mr truck
I have heard that a tonneau cover helps your aerodynamics and gas mileage as will dropping the tailgate. Low tire pressure will hurt gas mileage. Adding a cold air intake, electric engine fan low weight synthetic oil can help. I have also read that changing all fluids to synthetic can help. Auto trannies especially lose power when they get too hot. How much this stuff will help I couldn't tell ya but at the very least your truck will be faster.
