What do these numbers on my rear end tag mean?
3-S 157H L 10 10 5 0626. I was trying to see what the ratio was and I can't tell by this tag. The only other tag back there is the oil tag that say's syntetic oil and the weight.
Palumbo,
Refer to Yeti's thread near the top of this forum entitled "decipher your VIN". Scroll down a ways thru his initial post and see if you don't find your answer. I checked for you based on the numbers you posted, but could not find codes that represent the rear axle codes listed by Yeti. You may want to double-check your VIN and/or certification label. Also, I don't know what year and series truck you have.
Sorry couldn't help more,
Daryl
Yeah it's a 4.10:1 limited slip. The first 3 numbers on the bottom line are the ratio and if they have a "L" in between the first two then it's LS. Also it's located right before where it says "10 5" which means 10.5 inch ring gear.
Either that "H" is really a 4 or it's the last letter on the top row and the "4" is covered by the bolt that holds the tag in place. That is often the case.
The 3S is the plant code (Sterling, now part of Visteon.) the 157H is the revision number, 4 L 10 means 4.10 ratio with Limited slip differential, the 10 5 means 10.5" ring gear diameter, and the rest is the date code to be read as: 0 means year 2000, B is february (a= january, c=march and so on.) and 26 is the 26th day of the month. Mine is 3V 425F 3L73 10 5 3E06 so it's an axle made at the Visteon Sterling plant of revision 425F with a 3.73 LS, 10.5" ring gear made May 6th 2003. Simple, no?
