I had a 2007 6.0 Powerstroke that I decided to part out. I got a new truck a 2008 with the 5.4 L gasser engine. On the new truck I am having torque converter transmission noises. My question is can I put the torque converter and transmission and T case from the 6.0 into the 5.4 l
The torque converter, no. The trans and transfer case, yes.
The torque converter from the 6.0L has six studs whereas the 5.4L converter has four. It won't bolt to your flex plate. The 6.0L trans also has more plates in some of the clutches so some of the shifts are going to be firmer than the original trans. How much firmer? I've never tried it to know.
If you can get the 6.0L converter to mount to the flex plate, I think you won't like it. It has a lower stall speed than the 5.4L and may make the truck sluggish.
