i was given a 1982 F-150, the ignition switch is trashed and i would like to replace it ... but i cant seem to take the switch out! how do i take it out without breaking anything?
do you mean the switch ot the lock cylinder? the ignition switch is on the steering column under the dash. you may have to drop the column to get at the switch. the switch is activated by a rod that goes up to the lock cylinder.
if you pull the panel around the guages you will see a couple of bolts holding the steering column. remove those 2 bolts and the column will drop down and you will see the switch. not that hard to do.
if you are removing the lock cylinder, i cant help you there, never done it.
If it is the lock cylinder all you have to do is to turn the key to the run position then by your hazzard switch there is a little hole that you can put an straight pick into and release the pin that holds the cylinder in just pull it straight out.
