Wondering how to access the bolts that hold the firewall to fender brace?
Upon removing my front clip, one broke and it sits in a threaded clip on the inside of the firewall. (Vice grips holding it so it doesn’t fall back in).
I don’t want to hit it with a punch in order to use a remover tool, it looks like it may go through whatever is on the back side.
I have not removed any interior yet, so I’m just trying to plan out a repair.
I had the same one shear off on my 64. It was frozen tight in the nut behind. Drilled it for an easy out, broke the easy out.... Bummer... I ended up drilling out the two spot welds that hold the retainer/nut in place... Pulled the retainer out removed broken bolt and welded it back in place... Since yours is spinning free it looks like the retainer/nut has failed... Easy fix once its out. Here are some photos....
