Today I got a lot done with the F-100:

Finished the second coat of X-O Rust 1267 primer. It is now ready for the enamel coat. Haven’t settled completely on frame color yet.

Removed the seat, found the wood plates interesting.

What a mess

Removed the headliner and found my first and only mouse nest. In the headliner?!?!?! Haha.

The pink padding in the headliner area. I wonder if someone put that in there. It looks like its for carpeting.

Lots of sanding and prep work ahead

Pulled the gas tank. It has old fuel in it. Dumped it out and LOTS of piles of rust fell out. Gonna have to purchase a new tank.

This is just from what was in the filler neck to the tank.

Pretty bad….

Somebody who previously owned the truck put spray foam in both corners of the cab… ARGH!!!!! So much work to get it out.

Previous owner (PO) did not use any primer on the painted areas. The air compressor was able to chip away at the crappy paint job just with air.

Again, lots of sanding and prep work ahead.

So I worked on one of the cab corners (passenger side) with taking out the spray foam. 🤬

Here is some of the leftovers from spray foam removal.

Removed some of the instrument clusters:

PO used tape to hold on the red film and pieces of only radiator hose as well. WTH?!

Well, for me that was a lot of work on a Saturday. Plus doing all the chores around the house and property.

I gave myself more winter projects to work on. I am not too please with the PO’s work on the truck inside the cab. Irritates me, but oh well.

Keep at it? What colors are you contemplating for the frame?

Darkish gray, dark gray or black. Thinking a darkish gray would be best. Just would look different. But then again I don’t want it to look like primer.

Thinking the Intergalactic or Liquid Mercury. Though not this exact color/name cause these are Behr names. But something like those two colors.

Glad you are getting the cab hauled out. There is a real dirt catching lip on the bottom of the dash. You metal looks decent.

Good Evening.

Today I was able to get the front fenders off and the headlight grill. This was not fun, bolts in places that were near impossible to get to.

Lots of sheet metal and tack welding work in the future.
