I will disassemble everything from the back of the cab to the end of the bed. Pressure wash the rust off the frame. Repaint with XO Rust 1267 with 2 or 3 coatings.

I would like to get this done before the winter temps start dropping.

In the spring I will work on the cab to the front on the frame.

Removed everything off the frame. Brake lines, tail light wiring, grommets, leaf springs, rear shocks.

This was not fun removing all this stuff, especially the crossbar frame support brackets. Grinding hot rivets sucks.

But it is the good and bad that make the project enjoyable and memorable in the end.

More work done:

After removing everything off the frame, I finally pulled everything from underneath the frame.

Disassembled the axle and leaf springs.

Also applied some of the X-O Rust primer.

Yes, I will be taking apart the springs for cleaning and painting...... fingers crossed. The rusted up bolts can be a beach.

Thank you everyone for the encouraging words.

Resto's are not for the easily discouraged, haha.

I came across your thread a couple days ago. I have only reached page 4 and will be reading all the pages when time allows. Thank you for sharing your thread and project as well.

I was going to just cut off the U-bolts, but they are in really good shape. I am trying to keep as much of the original hardware and parts as I can.

But later on I may decide different and replace.
