I am new to this forum, but I must first say before I ask a nagging question, that I have found the information available on this website to be invaluable in my own purchase of a Ford truck. My many thanks to the many individuals who have been willing to share their questions and answers.
My question: I recently purchased a 2003 F350 Crewcab with a longbed, V10, and a .373 rearend. I won't bore people with the details why, but the other day, I was in 2nd gear starting to come down out of our nearby mountain passes, not paying particular attention to the speed, when I realized that my tach was running nearly 4K and my speed was approach 70 MPH. I instantly back off and shifted back into Overdrive. I know that I didn't run at this speed or rev's for more than 5 to 8 minutes and I don't discern any change in the engine behavior, but am interested in knowing from those of you who are more skilled in these matters if I might have done any damage to the engine. Appreciate any feedback or help anyone might offer on this. I guess I am looking for some peace of mind:-)

No damage done. The V10 loves RPM's and has the computer to limit them if they get out of hand. You could floor it in first and when the engine hits its redline, the computer will stop it from going any faster.
I think that the torque converter does not ever lock in 1st or 2nd gear, so you generate a lot of transmission heat when engine braking. You might want to install a tranny temp gauge to keep an eye on your fluid.
Less than 4000 RPMs is nothing! Heck, the tranny shift point isn't until 5200. And the redline is up around 5700. You can't over-spin the engine because it has a rev-limiter.
