I have a 2003 7.3PSD-250 4x4 with about 2500 miles on it. It is almost 2 months old. During the last two days it is getting progressively harder to start. It sounds like the batteries are low (it cranks longer and gets slower - the last time to the point of Oh, Oh!) but I don't think they are. All the lights are bright and when I put a charger on each isolated (disconnected) battery it indicates a full charge. Is it possible the starter could be binding? Or maybe there is a bad connection "down there"? Oh yea, I do wait for the glow plug light to go out and I do not touch the throttle when starting. It happens when engine is either cold or warm but sitting for a while.
Maybe it's the winter diesel fuel, I don't know what part of the country you're in. Try adding a fuel additive the next time you fill up. I use Standyne lubricity formula in the winter, and my truck starts a lot easier.
From: I'm lost somewhere in NJ -- can someone please find me?!?!?!?
hard starting - any ideas?
I hate to sound like I'm just passing the buck, but this is a brand new truck! It's still under warrantee, so take it to the dealer & make it their problem, not yours. My dealer even gives me a free rental car if I call them before I drop my truck off. You're paying for the 3 year/36,000 mile warrantee in the price of your truck; put it to use. Then come back here and tell us what the cause of the problem was so that others who are out of warrantee can benefit.

Thanks Forty, we have similar thoughts on this. I like to be armed with some possible answers before I go to the dealer. I certainly do appreciate the suggestions here and when I do take it in I will report back on what the problem is/was.
Your "all levers" motto makes me smile (and remember back when), but I've an auto trans with ESOF now so I can drive along with a Big Mac in one hand and a cup of Jo in the other while I steer with my little finger.
