I am looking for a cover for the DRW bed. Ford has their "brand" hard cover and its a trifold, the last panel doesn't flip up. What I am wondering is how far does it extend back from the cab and does it work with a 5th wheel?
I'm also juggling bedrug vs Rhino/linex and bedrug mat. Either case gets the bedrug bottom, but not convinced the spray on is actually going to be needed if I go bed rug.
I've got a LoMax trifold........don't know if it will work with a 5th wheel, but it is low profile, and seems to be water tight..............looks good, and works for me.

What ever you do DO NOT buy the Ford cover. The Ford branded hard tonneau is made by a company called Rev and is a knock off of the Backflip MX4. The skin on mine separated from the substrate last summer and I brought to the dealer last October for warranty replacement. Hoping will finally be resolved next week but it has been a freaking nightmare to deal with. My worst warranty experience in 45 years of owning vehicles of all different makes.
I had Line X and a bed rug in my last truck (GM). It was a good combination for me. The bed rug was easy on the knees but stuff would slide around on it. The bed rug was easy to remove when it was time for the truck to work moving mulch and the like.
I've had the BedRug mat and tailgate protector on the last couple of trucks. Current truck came with factory spray in liner off the lot. Previous truck I had a DualLiner that had been in the truck even before that. The BedRug is nice if you ever have a need to be on your hands and knees such as crawling under a tonneau. It's also a nice anti skid. I have small pallets with seamless gutter coil in the back of my truck all the time along with whatever misc. stuff I pick up and I have no problem with sliding items.
I just ordered the Gator FX folding cover for my new ride. I almost got a tri-fold, but was wondering the same about 5th wheel, etc. Plus, this way I can fold it completely up and have access to the entire bed, if needed, The Gator Recoil or a Retrax was also an option, as I has one on my last truck.
I recently bought the Bakflip MX4 for my F250 and am very happy with it however if I was towing a 5th wheel or gooseneck I wouldn't recommend this style cover as it blocks the rear window when its all the way open.

That's the part that doesn't bother me when towing. I usually leave the last section down and strapped, and still have plenty of room for hitch, turning, etc. Plus, if you have a fifth wheel attached, you can't see anything out of the rear window, anyway. That's when the bed camera is especially useful.

My last folding tonneau was a Extang trifold and it was great. The only issue is trying to get under that front third. That’s where the MX4 shines.
My vote is for BakFlip MX4 + Bed rug or even just a rubber bed mat.
You can always add Line X later if you need it.
"BakFlip obscures rear view" is a common sentiment, but doesn't make sense to me. Anything in the bed that requires it to be folded up all the way is going to obscure your rear view anyway.
The BAK folding cover is a 4 panel cover on the SD, so should encroach into the bed space even less when in it's last folded and flat position compared to a 3 panel cover. Line X is selling bed covers that appear to be relabeled BAK covers (they were in the past) with maybe some slight differences depending on model, and a longer warranty.

The BAk cover does the same thing. I have had 2 in the past, the first one was problem free, but I did not have the truck long enough for it to be a problem. The second came on a 2012 F350 SB KR, and it was water logged. I am leery of that, plus the glue and screws securing the crossmembers and latching bars tend to come undone after so many years of baking.

If the last panel allows for clearance to tow a 5th wheel, then it can be secured flat, which is what I like, the trifold I looked at at the dealer does not flip up, hence my thread. Not sure if it has been answered properly yet, does the 5th wheel clear or not on an 8' bed.

I'm thinking the Ford cover is Extang that I looked at.
I am going to go with the full Ford bedrug for starters until I can get a better look at the actual covers. I don't want to drop another $2K for a cover, if I spent that much it would be a full Topper instead, which I would need to make forks to remove it with for the tractor for when we tow. Considering we usually take one or two trips a year, that might not be too bad an issue, its when I need to pick up pallets of pellets or fertilizer that would be too tall for the topper that it becomes a problem. All my F-150s since 2014 had a topper, and I like the look, but they were not used for bed hitches or a ton of stuff on a pallet like the 350 is used for. My last F150 had the bed rug and topper and it was really nice to sit in if out somewhere and it starts to rain. Had 12v power and USB plugs in the bed so we could pull up a hotspot and stream Netflix or Prime. The Ford Bedrug is the same price as the regular labeled Bedrug, I just think having the Ford logo makes it look better. Hmm, price went up on the Bedrug I have in my Amazon cart. Need to doublecheck the Ford one now.
It's going to get the full bedrug regardless, the cover is the questionable item still.
After what my Ford dealer has put me through I will never ever again buy an accessory from a dealer. It has been nothing but a nightmare. Maybe I will post the saga once it is finished. It should be finally resolved next week.
With an 8’ bed I don’t think that you will have any vertical issues with the MX4 or any other trifold as they are far enough forward to clear.
Be careful with your horizontal turning clearance as well. There have been some issues with tonneau cover systems, like the Backflip, that use side rails. The side rails make the bed opening narrower. I know for a fact that they have redesigned the Backflip since I got mine in late 2021. The redesign made the rails a little wider narrowing the opening further.
As always, a lot will depend on your specific setup and 5th wheel
I really liked the bed rug. I just had the mat. It isn’t something I would have bought. I received it as a promotional free gift when I bought my Extang trifold.

One of teh downsides of ordering a cover or mat from the internet is if something goes wrong, you can't just go back to where you bought it for repairs. There aren't many places near me that even carry these items, so going to the dealer does have it's plusses. The nearest place for me is about 45 minutes away, closed on weekends. I will probably get the bed rug from Amazon, since the only issues I had were teh strips coming unglued, bed rug sent me a new bag of them.
