I guess I'm just an old fart but the new GTO just don't do anything for me. I had mine at the GTO Nationals in Atlanta back in the late 90's and sure got my eyes opened to how far folks go to make theirs perfect in every way. I thought I had done good just by putting mine back all orginal with matching numbers. Had a 68 Tempest Sprint back in HS in 69, but always wanted a GTO. The goat sits in the garage except for a few times a year I charge the battery and take it out. Usually some organization will call wanting to use it in a parade to support some cause.
Some explanations about milleage
There's liter...american gallon and...imperial gallons
If you get 20.0 miles/american gal.
you're getting 24.0 miles/imperial gallons
or getting 11.8 liter/100 kilometers
again....
If it's 10.0 miles/am.gal, it's 12.0 miles/imp.gal or 23.5 liter/km

I haven't seen one in person yet, only on TV commercials. I hope it's not just a prettied up Gran Prix or something, that would be quite a dissapointment. At least it's rear wheel drive though. But I know what you mean, it doesn't seem like a real GTO. They should have released it as a Tempest or LeMans, and then created a GTO option package like the '64. Then you can delete things like power windows and locks and all the other stuff that weigh the car down. Check the box for hood tach, red line tires, 3.93 axle and slip a Poncho 400 back under the hood. Of course the engine would have to be de-tuned for emissions, so take it home, reach in the glove box and find the re-programed chip waiting to be swapped out. Just like Pontiac did in the '60s when they shipped the Catalina's with short rocker arms and left a bag in the trunk with the performance rockers and needles for the carb.
Those were the good ole days! My '68 sits in the garage too. I only drive it once or twice a month. The factory gear ratio is 4.33...so I keep my trips short and quick.
