Bondo question

Does anyone know if you can chrome something that has bondo on it?

My front bumper had a tow hitch welded to it. I cut it off and now there is a bad dip in it and bad grinder marks

Thanks

Yes and no, for your case no. The chrome plating uses magnetism to stick the layers of nickel and copper. They have a plastic chroming process, but I don't even know anything about it. If your going for just a daily driver, they do make a chrome paint, athough it looks like brushed alumiumn . They stock trucks also came with cream bumpers(or is that just 59-60?) and wouldn't look bad either. Although maybe I'm wrong?-4speed

You can send them to some of the re-chroming shops and they can work the dent out.

FYI I had my 56 front bumper rechromed recently and they welded up 4 holes, added studs for a smooth look, and straightened it for a price of $225.

im pretty sure you cant just weld up these holes. they are more like really deep grinder marks and torch holes. I'm not going to have anything rechromed for a while, until I can afford it anyways. Mine didnt come with a back bumper so I will probually make a front and rear one so they match

Thanks guys
