Hello, newbie here. I have a Mustang (and have had several) so I know the benefits of learning from the success of others. I have a 92 F250 with 162K on the clock and still running strong.
My question is this, who has modified theirs and what success have you had? For instance, is a K&N FIPK worth the money in terms of performance that you saw? What other modifications have you performed and would you recommend them?
Please visit the exhaust forum for tips on that aspect. You can also search something like"F-250 mods" or something of that nature in this forum, you'll pull up a lot of past threads with useful information.
Go for the K&N replacement filter for 90% of the benefit and 25% of the price of a FIPK. The standard air box and hoses do not restrict very much and keep intake drone to a minimum
Gibson headers and the K&N FIPK replacement filter for around $50 and a couple peices of 3" pipe. Those are probably 2 of my next 3 mods. MDS 6A modual and coil will be the third.
a dual exhaust is worth it b/c the throaty roar sure makes it fun to drive. a chip is a worthwile expense if you can manage to get the right effects from doing it, depends on app and location and many other factors. especially if the engine is breathing that much more. i d do the exhause n filter n just drive it though with small cosmetic changes and save the money b/c you might want to drop a fresh motor in it in a couple years when your mileage gets up there. then go all out. sounds like it has the right stance and deserves a torque monster motor in the works
