Cured a 4.2 Stutter ...When Stopped
I have a 4.2 2004 Heritage with 296,000 on it. Never a problem but always changed everything...esp. the anti freeze and oil. Long story short I was getting a mis - fire or stutter type shake at a stop light...in gear. The engine ran fine under a load and in park...but at a light it was really obvious....an almost stall to a small idle increase and repeat. I decided to add Marvel Mystery Oil to a full tank of gas and it helped but didn't stop the issue. I then decided to stop that and add about only a shot glass of 2 cycle oil to a full tank...the problem ceased within a half tank. Now three tanks later this truck idles in gear like it has 2,000 miles on it. Am I just lucky, has anyone else added a little 2 cycle to the old birds....It really is amazing how still it idles. I thought perhaps a fuel injector was gummed up....
