Truck has the factory 5th wheel prep in the bed. Maybe a camper package too? I did not see that in the window sticker.
Truck was registered to a Corporation and the salesman at the stealership mentioned the previous owner used it to tow his Display Trailer. No clue what that means.
It’s for trailer brakes, a lot of older horse trailers and boat trailers have these.
its for surge brakes, so the vehicle doesn’t need a trailer brake controller so a 7 way pin ain’t needed. But it requires more power then a 3 way plug for running lights.
goe these surge brakes work is inertia driven. You hit the brakes in your car it pushes on the tongue of the trailer or the gooseneck and apples a piston to actuate the brakes.
still used today, but I think most are converted to a 7 way as that is most available.

its not for a camper, etc.
That's what I was going to say, looks like an old 5-way round for older surge brake trailers. My boat trailer has a 5-way flat, they gave me an adapter to a 7-way round for it because who has a 5-way flat? The 5-way round...isn't on the way out but isn't used much anymore, as stated above they're usually replaced with a 7-way round because a couple 'dead' pins doesn't hurt anything.
