Solid Pot

Don't know if this has been posted before...are there any bullet casters out there. Time to take a break I loaded up my pot and it went solid on me ,have to wait a little bit (I like to cast at the lowest temp possiable and this will happen sometimes)

Nice to know I'm not the only metal melter out there.

We should form up a blacksmith's society, but I bet it's already been done...

I here you Greywolf, I was back in the shop casting up more .45 bullets. Now I'm sitting here taking another break stuffing a burger in my pie hole.

uh...we just use straight up lead as far as i know, we try to get rid of the impurities using very high heat...we melt down wheel weights

Try using some candle wax (sm chunk) and stir it in well ,don't freak when the smoke flames on you it usually does. If you can get a temp probe use it . I cast between 475 and 525 sometimes a little higher depends on the alloy sometimes. If you go too high in temp you can burn up the tin that you need to make hard bullets . Tin will make them hard enough to cut down on leading in the barrel. My metal is a mix of one part linotype to two parts wheel weights, works great. I pick up fired slugs and remelt .
