Long story short, after towing this truck from the woods (where it was for 1-2 years, I was told by previous owners) and slowly working through issues, my latest issue (debugging some strange / hard / sluggish shifting) showed something very strange – I'm consistently getting a 639 code - "Insufficient input from transmission speed sensor." A forum member said that it's not supposed to be *possible* to get a 639 code from an E40D, since there is only the Vehicle Speed Sensor, and no Transmission Speed Sensor.
This leads me to believe that the PCM that I replaced early on in my work (old PCM seemed to be causing issues) may not have been exactly correct – and is giving me an error that's not meant to even be possible for my setup. Maybe this is crazy, otherwise, how would the 639 be possible?
I'm hoping to do two things:
1. Confirm that the PCM I bought will work OK for my truck – I'm wondering if it was maybe from a truck with a different transmission (hence the 639, and other issues)? Otherwise what the hell?
2 (if it turns out I have the wrong PCM). Find out where I can get a proper PCM to eliminate that from the possible causes of issues.
I'm attaching an image of the configuration code from the door jamb, as well as the sticker on the replacement PCM, and hoping someone knows how to confirm that it's a viable PCM, and if not, where to get one that is compatible.
Thank you sincerely, don't know how any of this would be possible without this forum.
Ugh, yeah that's what I thought. Thank you very much for confirming.
Any recommended places to get a quality one of these? Remans from some places are $$ but wondering if I should trust ebay or other marketplaces for quality? Would like this to be the last time I have to pull this thing.
Nevermind, found your other post re: where to buy. Thank you!

If you find a AAA version, its "catch" or "batch" code on the original label will be HOG0
Like the one above is HUG2
I really appreciate your help. Bit the bullet and dropped $700 on a new one 💀. If it clears up the pesky issues I've been having and lets me finally have some confidence in the truck, it will be worth it.
I still have the original one, if anybody reading this knows someone who might want to refurbish it, I'd love to recover some of my cost on the replacement. Also have the incorrect replacement for sale.
Understand, there are no new computers. Only refurbished used ones that have nothing but paint to actual repairs & testing.
Someone told me SIA ele. might be a good place to start for repairs of PCM's if they are repairable. Now that I figured out mine had been shorting out due bare damaged wires mine is working much better. However at this age I will likely need their help at some point. ha ha

Sorry, yes, should have said "replacement" instead of "new."
I'm going to look into having the original repaired by the folks you recommended, hopefully to sell and make some of it back... of course I have the rare / expensive PCM model #
