Glow Plug Controller

HI I have a 1993 f350 N/A 7.3, my problem is it is hard starting but the bigger problem is, when i turn the ignition on, it heats the plugs and the "wait to start light turns off" but then I try to start it, and the glow plug controller/heater is ticking on and off and the gauges are jumping on the dash, what could be wrong, im new to diesels, is this normal? should it be doing this? Or is the reson im hard starting and having a continuous ticking because the controller is bad? also....when it does eventually start, the ticking continues for a few more seconds, thanks for any help, i really appreciate it.

Yes, and yes.

Check your glow plugs.

You are lucky, mine does not click all the time, it keeps heating the plugs. I am afraid I will burn them. I will have to change the controller.

Yes the clicking is normal.

AlienMotorsports, I have '93 F350 7.3. I just finished replacing my Glow Plugs. (A vetran of cylinder 3) Check the glow plugs first. Easyer than replacing them. Use a 12 light and connect one side to the positive on your battery. Then MAKE SURE YOU REMOVE THE ORIGINAL GLOW PLUG CONNECTOR FIRST! Touch the other side of your light to the top of the glow plug. It should light very brightly. Anything else is a dead plug. If you have over 50% dead plugs, replace them all! As far as the fuses, the lid for the fuse bos) are correct. Which fuse box do you need the image of?
