Water won't grenade a DCR. S&S posted a video where a test truck was getting bad fuel, on a regular basis, enough to cause rust in the aftermarket fuel filter system's metal filter cans and the DCR kept chugging along.

As to "duct conversion," do you mean a disaster prevention kit? All up to you on what you want to do, but at the least install a S&S Gen 2.1 kit to protect the rest of the fuel system if the CP4 goes or go for it all, more $$, and install a DCR. My 2 cents worth.

The DCR is designed to resemble the CP3 more than the CP4, the CPX is, which is what I am inferring the "SPX" above is, is a modified CP4. Same cam and lobe design, albeit with pinned buckets and a bifurcated fuel feed. A 2020+ pump and DPK is effectively the same thing. Given the choice between the two, DCR all the way. Initial response seems to be positive on the DCR. Only issue I have seen to date is a busted inbound fuel line, which isn't a problem of the pump itself.

Time will tell how good the DCR ends up being, however it is off to a very good start thus far.

If I'm not mistaken, their Gen 2 kit has resolved any hose issues. I mentioned my concerns about this very issue to the shop that's going to install mine in two weeks, and they confirmed that the newer generation kit addressed that Gen 1 issue (and, since they're an S&S distributor they no longer stock nor install Gen 1 kits).

Given how Johnny on the spot S&S has been, doesn't shock me they tackled it so quickly.

Roger that. Two more weeks, and that CP4 'sword of Damocles' will no longer be hanging over my head. Also means that I can cut back on the fuel additives, and run the occasional Meaner Kleaner for injector and line maintenance.
