I have a 2017 F-150 and over the last week all incoming and outgoing call sounds are being played on the tweeter speakers only. All other Bluetooth sounds are just fine. I have performed a soft reset on the sync system, unpaired and re-paired my phone to the system, and nothing seems to be working. What could be the problem?
Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes to let any static electricity to bleed off the circuit boards? Is the battery old and weak? Have you had it load tested recently. I think these are the first things to check when chasing electrical gremlins. Good luck.
When you disconnect the battery, turn headlight switch on to draw any residual current out of the system. Leave it disconnected for at least 20-30 minutes.
And as @jake415 said, all sorts of weird electrical things begin to happen when a battery is starting to get weak.
I discovered today that the speaker in each front door isn’t working. I read that Bluetooth voice calls go through the tweeters and the front door speakers. This could be the issue, but is it normal for the speakers in the front doors to go out at the same time?
Depends. Do you keep it outside all the time? Do you get a lot of rain where you live? You'll find when you remove the speakers how unremarkable they are. It's a wonder that they last more than 5 years.
Had this happen in my F-150 too, calls were stuck on the tweeters no matter what I tried. What worked for me was using activecalls on the phone for calls while driving; it routes everything cleanly through the phone, keeps audio clear, and avoids the weird speaker glitch.
