So my 2020 f450 platinum has air conditioned seats.
The seats definitly cool down but i was wondering if they have a fault. I can not feel the air flow against my back or butt in either front seat at full blast at all. Is this normal or should there be noticable air flow?
They stopped with the actual air conditioned seats in 2017. In 2018 they became “ventilated” so instead of blowing cool air on you it actually sucks the cool air in the cab through the seat in turn making you feel cooler. If your a bigger guy like me 250lbs you don’t feel much cause your butt and back are basically sealing off the little holes in the leather. If you lean forward for about 30 seconds then put your back against the seat again it will feel cool. They had a lot of problems with the back of the seat overheating from the actual air conditioned seats so they did away with them and just have them ventilate now.

Oh well **** that sucks. I'm 320 so definitely covering it completely. It's weird though after the truck cools down the seats are definitely cool and I'm not sweating on the back side. It feels like they are being cooled. Either way that sucks.
I keep seeing where the ventilated seats are where the air is drawn down from above and not air blowing up from below, but I swear that mine have the air blowing up from below, air flowing up my back, not the other way around.

I'm gonna check next time I get in with an easy trick I learned as an hvac tech. Take a piece of tissue and hold it in front of where the air flow is. If it pulls in its sucking if it pushes out it's blowing
Also I forgot to mention my lariat seats heated and cooled way better than my king ranch seats with multi contour. The air has to go around all the little air bags in there that blow up and deflate. I know the platinum has multi contour seats so that’s also a contributing factor.

Yeah mine are multi contour and heated as well. That could be a factor
Today's seats do not cool anywhere like the seats of a few years ago did. The best example were the GM seats in the mid-teen years. I believe they used a peltier type system. The seats would actually get cold, but the vents in the back of the seats would blow hot to warm air on any backseat passengers. Driver and passenger felt damn good, though! 😂

I don’t know for sure when they made the switch to ventilated, but can attest that my ‘19 has cooled seats. So it had to be ‘20 or later when they quit making the cooled seats.

Not true. My 2019 has cooled seats - there are Peltier devices under both front seats. They definitely blow cold air OUT of the seat. I turn them on to cool the leather when it is hot out but I never drive with them on. After a while they make me feel like my pants are wet.
Easy check - start the truck, leave the AC off and turn on the cooled seats. See if the leather actually gets cold. If it does you have a Peltier device in your seat. If it remains at ambient you have ventilated seats.

In my truck there are three levels of cooling for the seats. I cannot feel any difference in the airflow between the three settings, but the highest setting definitely cools more than the lowest setting.

Same as my 2024 Lariat.
With the tissue test be sure it is not being hit by the dash vents, I may try this when I get bored but I am happy with the results, no matter how it does it.

Yeah same for me too, highest level is definitely more effective.
Yeah I turned off the ac when I tested the air flow of the seats so that wouldn't be an issue
