No need to laugh at that one. I open the engine hatch on our 22' Regal boat after every use to cool the Mercruiser 350 down. It is so padded and insulated that the only air getting to the motor is through the intake hoses which feed directly to the engine. Helps save the hoses and belts from the heat that builds up in there.
What are you kidding me? My wife thinks I should move outside with the truck I'm under the hood so often. Most of the time I'm just getting to know it like the back of my hand. Ya never know when you may have to fix somthing in the dark.
If I open mine once every fill it would be once a month. Maybe, I only filled the washer jug twice since I got it. I also do my oil changes every 6 months. Oh yeah I still have under 10,000 miles since 9/01. I might have opened the hood 20 times in that period. So I might have opened it once a month.

I check under my hood about once a week. I just look for anything unusual... ok, I just like to admire the V10.
Oh, and just so that the guys on the other side of the pond know what we are talking about, I think they call the hood the Bonnet... and those darn Canadians probly just spell it Houd or something.

I only look under the hood every 10,000 miles at oil change time, and even then I wouldn't if I didn't have to, because I get so frustrated when I see all the stuff that I no longer reconize! 25 years ago, I used to do my own engine swaps and overhauls, now I can't even find the spark plugs!
Oldchap, have you met FortyFords yet? Maybe you guys met in the Civil War though... :P
I look under the hood every week or more. AND I do not eat peanuts and I sure as heck don't have LITTLE turds! http://www.handykult.de/plaudersmilies.de/fart.gif
My so-called-sister wouldn't fit in the bed of these trucks let alone under the hood!
Be cautious when opening your hood. You may awaken a sleeping MONSTA! We know of his attraction to slippery dip sticks from many prior posts and MONSTA sightings. He has undergone sniper training and may be wearing automotive camo!
