Buddy's truck has check engine and gouges go crazy 7.3 idi
Hey yall posting for some help with figuring out why when the check engine light is on the coolant temp goes crazy but when the check engine light is off it reads correctly I have some ideas but I'm still a little new being 19 and need some assistance

CEL on the diesel will only light up for two things....high engine temp and low oil pressure.
if the light comes on when the gauge is flopping around like a fish out of water, check for bad connection on the sending unit, and chaffed wire shorting to ground.
