Arrow Anyone got bed rails?

I'm trying to locate a nice set of Ford bed rails for my 8' bed 1997 F350.

The kind I'm looking for are from Ford. You could buy them from Ford for the early 80's trucks thru mid 90's. I'll try to describe them:
1. Each side has a long rail that seems to be aluminum. It sits on three "pedestals" which are mounted in the stake holes in the bed.
2. The inboard side of each rail has a channel that typically has 3 or 4 sliding pieces that you can tie stuff to.
3. The rail sits on the middle pedestal and slides into each end where it is fastened.
4. The pedestals are chrome or aluminum color also.

Anyone know of a store or location to buy them?

I just contacted my local Ford dealer and they said that the part I am looking for has been discontinued in 2000 or 2001. So, if any of ya'll can help, I would appreciate it!!

Allfords, how's that Mustang run? I'm working on a mint 1986 GT vert. It looks like I have to pull the motor though.

Modru2004, it is hard to tell, but it does look like them...kinda...the rails are...um...aluminum with ribs on the outside and they sit on 3 squares (one at each end and one for the center). Inside has a channel for little black adjustable tie downs.

JW, maybe I'll get a tool box for the truck for Christmas, then we could be in business!!

Thanks

I do know the bed rails your talking about but I belive your looking at the wrong years. I had a 1976 F150 with the set your talking about they are as you said a factory ford item and the tie downs on the inside rails are round and you turn them to loosen then slide them back and forth the end caps are made from pot metal as is the middle support and rails are aluminum. Now only thing I see might be a problem is the shape of the bases, because if I remember right they are slightly curved on the bottom where they mount to the bed in the stake pockets. Try checking around with places online that deal in older ford truck parts like from 1967 to 1980 I bet you'll find a set and yes they are very nice looking rails.

Good Luck!

Yep, those are the ones!! They'll fit perfect since I've had them on my last few trucks, most recently a 1994 F250. Same body style , of course, as my 1997.

Yeah, I'm getting ready to yank my 86 GT's motor out soon, too. I've been trying to figure out the best engine combo's. What a task! There are so many different ways to go. I'm going to sell my extra stock short block and buy a new one. Probably, then, just put some worked E7 heads or GT40's on it and get her on the road.
