Hi
Got Myself a project and the seller told me the edelbrock 1405 would fit on this car. Feel a bit lost as i have no idea what kind of engine setup i really have😅
Any ideas what needs to be done here? New to the trucks and engine…any tips?
You will need a 4 barrel intake manifold for the Edelbrock carburetor to work on that engine. You might be able to find a cast iron 4 barrel intake from a car from this era of vehicles, or get a Edelbrock Aluminum intake manifold for it. Do you know what size engine it is? Is it a 360 or 390 FE engine?

thanks! Is that a fairly easy job? Replacing some gasket pulling out the distributor
if i read the door plate correct its a 360
Before the major surgery involved in an intake swap on an FE that also involves removing rocker arms, etc., you may find that the better short-term path is to install an original-style two-barrel carb or refresh the carb that cam with the truck when you bought it. On a 360 there is not great benefit to a 4-barrel carb unless you also free up the exhaust with headers and duals and even then you may find that the two-barrel is a better match. Since you are new to the truck get it running with a 2-barrel and drive it to learn what else it may or may not need. An intake manifold swap on an FE is not the easiest - especially if you have never done one before not to mention trying to wrestle the 80 pound intake off of the engine. With a 2 barrel you will get less that stellar acceleration and mediocre fuel milage. With a four barrel and no other engine improvements you will have less than stellar acceleration and mediocre fuel economy.
Start with the numbers shown on the side of the carb in your picture. Get a rebuild kit and go through it. The Autolite carbs that these trucks came with are pretty simple and pretty good but in the reman aftermarket it may be tough to find a good one. Rebuild the Holley and get to know the truck. While you are working on it, pull the distributor cap and do a quick inspection to make sure the mechanical and vacuum advance mechanisms are in good order and check the radial/side-to-side play of the distributor shaft to make sure that there is not excessive wear. If it is still using points, consider a swap to a Pertronix pickup for a more reliable spark.
Here is a link at Summit. It says not available but if you contact Holley you may be able to find a rebuild kit. I don't know Autolite 2100's but the tag shows it as a reman so you may be able to use a basic 2100 rebuild kit. Hit google and do some searches. I found some hits on Ebay as well.
This shows the Holley part number and cross-references Motorcraft part numbers. You should be able to find a rebuild kit based on the Motorcraft part numbers -

will do.
looks like the previous owner just cut the line here. This is supposed to be connected to the carb right? Vacuum
Nice looking truck! If you decide to do a rebuild on your Motorcraft 2100 carb, Mike's Carburetor has kits and parts for them. He has Youtube videos on how to rebuild them. In regards to your vacuum advance on your distributor, it looks like someone pinched closed the part where your tubing goes? Maybe it's just the angle of the picture?
