its pinched yes. I dont know why but im guessing it needs to be replaced? Any reason people do this?

Yes, the line needs to be replaced. There should be a “clock face” on the side of the carb (Autolite) that has a number, which corresponds to Venturi size. Make sure this number is correct for your engine. Can’t tell you off-hand what number it should be. Sometimes people get a rebuilt carb and don’t pay attention to what they get.
