2019 TPMS sensors need programming?

Do the tire sensors on a 2019 need to be programmed or not? I keep reading different things online. Every Ram and Jeep vehicle I've had over the last 15 years was set up to automatically recognize sensors. Apparently the sensors that were in the stock wheels on my current 2019 F-250 were not registering with the truck at all and I actually questioned whether those tires had sensors in them so I bought four new sensors and went to the tire shop. When they dismounted the tires they discovered that there actually were sensors in there. Why were they not reading on the truck?

My 2019 F350 Lariat has TPMS and they work fine. I did have a problem a few months ago after I had the tires balanced and rotated one tire kept reading a low pressure. After adding air, etc it turned out there is a TPMS sensor calibration that had to be done. I don’t remember the exact procedure however it was done by putting the truck into this TPMS calibration mode then following the prompts on the dash. You would add or remove air to your tires as the display instructed once finished the tire sensor error cleared and all has been good. I thought I had a bad sensor but once this calibration/reset was finished everything worked.

Below is the procedure I used.

1) Make sure your tires are inflated to the recommended psi. Mine is 40psi.

2) Turn ignition to the on position. If you have a push button start, push the start button without pressing the brake pedal.

3) Push the hazard light button 6 times. The horn should honk and you should see "Train left front tire" in the LCD display between the tach and speedo.

4) Release air pressure in the front left tire until you hear the horn honk. The LCD display should now read "Train right front tire".

5) Release air pressure in the right front tire until you hear the horn honk.

6) Repeat for the the right rear tire, and then the left rear tire.

7) You should now see "Training Complete" in the LCD display.

8) Fill your tires back up to the recommended pressure.

I bought a second set of OEM rims for my summer tires and my truck picks them up when I swap them back and forth without doing anything.. A guy at work complained his Ford Fusion had "too many sensors in the memory of the computer" and had to have his mechanic do a reset of some sorts. Not sure if that's your issue or if that's even possible because I don't know what his mechanic did. I think with Forscan you can disable TPMS. Maybe turn it off then back on and see what happens?
Wish I knew more...
