Instrument Cluster Question

Hey guys just wanted to ask if a 1996 ford f-150 5.0 instrument cluster would be compatible in a 1995 ford f-150 5.0. Both trucks are XLT models and the cluster has a tachometer

That is all thanks in advance

I am not 100 percent sure but I think they would work. From my understanding there is a f number behind the instrument cluster. So for a 95 year of manufacture it would be F5. If the numbers are the same it should be fine. If it’s a F5 and F6 I can’t say but I bet they would.

what do you need a new instrument cluster for? If it’s a bad guage you could keep your cluster and just pull the guage pod out that you need and replace the bad one.

I have a 1996 xl model that didn’t have a tach. I took a cluster out of another 95 and then pulled my speedometer out and then put it in the other one and put it in my truck. Worked fine. They were both F5 clusters.

not sure if this helps and I’m sure my mess of a response is confusing. Let me know if I can clarify for you.

Edit: 1995 to 1996 is not 100% plug-n-play, there are some differences. The Pin-Outs for C250 and C251 are slightly difference between those years.

Should be plug-n-play (Correction: there are differences). Swap your PSOM to preserve the mileage and calibration constant.

Whether or not a 95 will work in a 96 I do not know but I have compared a tach cluster from a 95 and a 96 and even though they look the same from the front side as far as warning light locations there is a small difference in the traces of the print board as shown here:

Not sure what the difference equates to but just take note. May be a non issue.

My 95 had an F4 engineering number, my 96 had an F5 number and my 97HD has F6
