Started stereo shopping tonight and was told conflicting info on the speaker sizes. First place told me 5x7s FRT and 6x8s Rear. Second place told me 6 1/2 rounds in FRT and 6x8s rear. Anyone know for sure? Like to have my choices researched before I scatter my interior panels all over the garage.
Also, can 6x9s be installed in the rear stock location without too much surgery? It really opens up the options if I can.
My 82 has 6x8" in the rear and 6-1/2" in the doors.
There all pioneer, and I re did all the speaker wires cause the stock wiring had the grounds tied into 1.
It runs off a JVC cd deck and sounds great.
The 6x9 are cool too, they have a little bit more bump, but I did'nt feel like cutting anything.
Thanks for the quick replies guys. I listened to the 6x8 Pioneers tonight. They do sound very clean for the price. They are lots better than most comparably priced speakers. I found some Alpine 6x9s with more bump. But they were real spendy.
If I decide to go 6x9s, will all the surgery be concealed when I'm done? I don't mind cutting inside, but I'll go with the Pioneers if it won't look good when I'm done.
