I've recently had my leaky 1968 Bendix power steering gearbox refurbished by Bluetop Steering Gears.
I confirmed the gearbox was centered, the steering wheels off the ground, and after reattaching the pitman arm, I crawled out from under the truck and the steering wheel is at 45 degrees.
Did I miss a step in this connection sequence?
I did the same thing with my steering box on my 67 F100 4x4 a couple years back and had a similar issue.
Sounds like you made sure the gearbox was centered before installing
Wheels straight, install pitman arm.
When I reconnected the steering wheel shaft to the steering box, I'm remembering there was a center mark, but can't remember if I made the mark, or if there was one already there.
test drove and was off a fair amount when going straight.
Since everything seemed in line on the gearbox end, I opted to pull the steering wheel (simple, but you may need a puller) and rotated straight and reinstalled. Worked perfectly.
I'm very happy with my bluecap box as it not only stopped the leaking issue, it also fixed the major slop I had in the steering.
Ultimately had to replace the tie rod ends too, as this exposed a fair amount of slop there too.....now steering is great (for a 67)!
