Just venting as i know some of you have had the same issue.
Water pump was leaking on the 95. i did it last 6 years ago and 105k miles ago. Truck has 314k now.
Everything was coming apart just great.....until it didn't. Farthest left lower bolt broke off in front cover. I felt it binding up and tried to go back in with it to free it up but no avail. It broke. There was not enough to grab with vise grips which i tried first.
There was enough sticking out that i thought i would weld a nut on it and try it. People make that look so easy or have better nuts than they sell at Lowes. It didn't work 12 times and now there is not enough left.
I am fortunate it is one of the 30 mm bolts as opposed to the longer ones that go all the way through. I will have to get the proper bit to give it a drill and retap.
Wow you'd think with that much heat put into it that bolt would have almost walked out on it's own
I agree on this.
@carltonwebb , did you fill the nut in with weld after tacking it onto the end of the stud? The weld-a-nut-onto-the-broken-stud trick has always worked for me. You may want to look into an induction heater next. https://boltbusterinc.com/shop/
I did not have any luck with the weld the nut onto the stud truck. What was left was there to stay forever. I was successful in drilling it out and retapping the hole with the proper size bit and tap. I think taking some time away it helped so that i did not let my frustration lead to bad decision. It has taken me a lot of years to learn that,
