We sometimes get stumped on what gifts to buy for people.
What have been some gifts you've given that have been well-received, and to top it off, were pretty inexpensive?
Here's one to start with:
I brought in the Christmas tree tonight and got it settled in the stand. I then sat back and watched my wife decorate it (by previous agreement). She'd hang a red ball here, a silver ball there, then she picked up one from the box, looked at it and brought it to me. She said " Look at this, an ornament from our daughter when she was 3". I watched her place it in prime territory on a limb of the tree.
I took my daughter to the store and helped her pick that out years ago. We wrapped it ourselves and wrote on it "to Mom, love -----". I remember it like it was yesterday. I paid $1.99. What a gift that keeps giving.
Those are the best kinds of gifts. I try to keep my eyes open for opportunity like that. This year, I was out of town for a few days and my wife was doing a thorough cleaning on the house and she emailed me and said she had broken one of her Wizard of Oz snow globes. So, I was browsing in the mall one day and wandered into a store that just happened to have a snowglobe with an Oz motiff. It wasn't too expensive, but she will absolutely cherish it! It is easy to pick up on clues like this now that I learned how to listen to my wife- LOL
A few years ago I was with a friend of mine and we were visiting his son who was a glass blower. I bought 6 handblown ornaments for $30 dollars. She nests them in a basket for a centerpiece and they are always her favorite decoration.
