How long to reach normal temp
How long should it take for the coolant temp to reach the normal temp. The temp was about 35 degrees last week, it took about 10 minutes of slow (< 35mph) driving to get the coolant temp to come up (to normal, about 1/3 of the guage). My tranny temp came up in less time than the coolant. Does that sound normal?
Also, if I take off the oil fill cap when the engine is running, I get a small amount of smoke that will drift out. I understand this is blow by. My truck only has 12K miles. Do I have a problem?

You might have a bad temperature gauge. I have an 03 and my engine and transmission temperature gauges run in the middle of the gauge. The engine temp started coming up about 1/4 of the way up, stay there for awhile, then gradually go to the normal position. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the gauge cluster. All is OK now.
