Does the VIN # tell what differential my truck has?
The book I have lists different lubs for the different differentials, but I don't know which differential I have. Can some one post the VIN # code for the differential on a '93 F250 Diesel 4WD, 5 speed, or how I can identify what differential lub I need . Thanks
Try looking on the door post sticker and compare the numbers to the book listings. If previous owners did not change the differentials, the numbers should coincide and you can determine the lube you need.
Thanks for the replys. The axle code is C9.
I've spent some time under the truck looking for additional #s. Among other #s there is a metal tag bolted to the differential cover that reads
E7 TW AA.
Also, I jacked up both rear wheels and when I turn one, they both turn in the same direction, does this indicate positive traction?
Thanks again, this is a great site.
