Hey all, I’m back. After replacing my starter in my 7.3. The other I day hopped in, to give it a much awaited crank, and nothing. Just a clicking noise from the relay. I think it may just be a failing relay cause it was starting to click intermittently when I tried to start it in the weeks prior. Anyway I got the starter to spin once off the solenoid but it didn’t spin the engine which is strange. Really just looking for any ideas here on how to identify/pinpoint if it’s truly the relay, but im not sure at this point with its symptoms.
The IDI engines have 2 starter solenoids. It has the one on the fender well and the second one is on the starter itself. Either one can fail.
You can test the system by using an old screw driver to jump the solenoid on the fender well. Make sure the truck is in park or neutral and touch the screw driver to the two large posts on the solenoid. It'll spark and the starter/engine should spin. If it does, then you'll need to replace the fender well solenoid.

thank you sir. I used your diagram shorted them and found my smaller cables post became stripped so I put a washer nut on it as a buffer and she cranks
