I had a nice Ford tailgate and crappy Mercury tailgate. I cut out the Mercury centre and the ford centre and made a new Mercury tailgate. I am pretty happy how it turned out. It’s for my 66 Mercury 100 4wd truck. Doug.

Muppy: Nice Work! .......But, that gate is off a Bumpside, and the line that runs across above the latch handle is a BEAD on Bumpsides, but a STEPROLL on Slicks.
Here's a Slick Merc Gate to illustrate (**'64 thru '66 Styleside Ford would have the same same line as shown in first pic, not the bead)
....and a bumpside Merc gate with bead for comparison
Thanks for all the kind words. Hopefully I encourage other people to work on their trucks. I’m not a professional, just a hobby. I understand James that it’s not the right tailgate. You pointed that out before, but finding another good tailgate is pretty much impossible, so I used it. Now I’m working on the box. Removed the floor to replace with another one from an another box I have that’s rough but the floor is good. I made this cart to attach the box to so I can move it around and lift with skid steer. I also made this bracket to lift boxes. Doug.
No biggy James , I think you sent me a private message and mentioned the guy in strathmore could graft the tailgate together. It actually was much easier than I thought it was going to be. Doug.
