1947 1/2 ton distributer sequence
I was wondering if anybody has the distributer wiring sequence diagram for a 1947 1/2 6 cylinder g series engine. After 12 years, I am almost done but I can't get ignition. The starter is good and I am getting fuel but no light off. The engine was rebuilt by a mechanic but I am worried the distributer wires are not connected to the right spark plugs. A diagram of the proper sequence might go a long way to eliminating a possible cause. Thanks, Tim
There is not necessarily "this specific terminal on the cap is this specific plug" as it depends upon the relationship of the distributor gears at installation.. You find TDC, see where the distributor rotor is pointing, and that is #1. The rest go in firing order, which I recall is 1, 5, 3, 6, 2, 4. Precise timing should be 1 degree BTDC. If you find #1 to be at an inconvenient place when at TDC, then carefully remove the distributor at TDC, rotate the rotor until it is in a more convenient location, and reinstall, and precisely retime.
I would expect that everything would be timed just so from the rebuilder.
