Cruise o matic Issues
Hey everyone I know this is a truck site but this is a transmission question , my brother has a cruise o matic transmission in his 1964 thunder bird that just blew up some how. (no visible carnage left in pan or in oil), we got a second tranny that came out of a truck that "supposedly worked when taken out" after swapping the tail shaft housings , torque converters and bell housings he now only has reverse and third gear ( better than no gears but still not optimal) , when placed in low the car shakes as if your trying to do a burn out but nothing happens, you kinda jiggle back in forth as if its stuck in multiple gears at the same time. I have no idea as to what the issue can be or where to begin to look.

Don't expect a lot of help on a trans that old. If you reused a torque converter from a blown-up transmission you just filled your replacement trans with whatever garbage was in there form the old trans.
My advice is to have one of the transmissions rebuilt.
