I have an 89 F150 4x4 and im trying to replace the front rotors. I removed the 6 screws and cap, then the actuator and the snap ring. At this point ive been told that the rest of the inside of the hub should slide out. It isnt. I tried putting a puller on it but the bolts looked like they were ready to snap so I stopped. What could be holding it in?
I use a sharp pick to get hold of it. A sharp, thin screw driver might also work. Pry up an end and then grab it with needle nose pliers. It's just a round wire spring.
It won't break.
I'd call it the outer race retaining ring or something similar.
A little bit of patience a couple of small flat head screw drivers to pry it out and you're good to go. Don't forget to pack your bearings and while doing the rotor.
