well the cam i have now is a 260 adv. dur. .45I/.48E ... good torque cam for a 302/351, its pretty dead for a 427, good torque to about 1800 then it dies off! the heads don't really help either! i called world prod. asked them if their R-200 could be opened too 70cc (comb.chamber vol.) i really want 70! 64cc will work but ill be running off 93 all the time. they said no! I really don't know if 6cc could be ground out of the roush? if any of you know let me know? Edelbrock has the vic.jr. with 70cc which will work good.i plan on replacing the cam, looking in the 270/280 adv. dur. with a .50 to .52 gross lift. since it is a stroker i really dont need a torque cam, especially one designed for a 351! a good 302 midrange cam will probably do what i want.
Well i tell you what... i go back and forth between wanting a nice cruiser and pro street machine. To everyone that has added, thanks. I have learned alot bye reading thru them. This is my first project. I am currently swapping out the straight axle for a crysler IFS, hope to have it done in a week or so. Then i am going to start working on the motor. Heres a new question... For solid times in the quater, would you go stroker 347 or 396? I have a block of a windor as well.
396...powerglide, unless your dealing with a tight space (explorer, ranger, escort) a 347 is pointless! of course if it is a resto. and nostalgia is a big deal then i can see it... but other than that , its useless. go with the 351w or cleveland...W's are cheaper and parts are more abundant plus they've been stroked to 430ci with good results . but remember DO NOT USE THE STOCK HEADS... my biggest mistake!
I have a P.A.W. 427 in my 92 dually i will recomend them they did a very good job for $2600

My 396 stroker runs mid 11's without using the transbrake or slicks, naturally aspired. But, it's a 1994 Camaro Z28 LT-1 stroker.
i hope you DON'T do burnouts on the street rad's before you launch ,that killed my 97 t-bird times by 3 tenths of a second. try it next time your at the track, on the first run, run them cold...
BTW, is'nt a straight axle lighter than a IFS set-up? why would you switch?
