Order intervals?

I have had a Limited, diesel, 4X4 ordered since September 3rd - 13 weeks! It still does not have a scheduled production date or VIN. The dealer can't seem to tell me anything other than "Wait". Does anyone know the "normal/expected" interval or how can I find out anything about my order? Does anyone know how to find the queue for these SUVs?

Sorry - I have not run across regional Ford Rep names or numbers. Neither the dealers or Ford want consumers to know who they are. I've seen the subject come up many times on various boards with no answer...

My guess is that if your unit is clean & unscheduled youu have an allocation problem. Your dealer can tell you when his next allocation slot is available. The Sales Manager is probably the one to ask. Good luck.

Order intervals?

Thanks for the help on this issue. I went to the Ford Outfitters site (which is a total mess to use due to heavy traffic) and found two dealers with Limited, 4X4s scheduled for production next week or the week after. Now its a matter of price. Hopefully this will end the search but will cost me another $1,000.00 or so. The original order was for $800.00 over dealer invoice taxes but after 14 weeks it turned out to be not such a good deal.

I found several dealers offering good prices, but no allocation once I questioned them on it. I too had to pay more - went from $49 over to $850 over. Perhaps I could have done somewhat better but it's worth something to have an actual order that I know is being processed. I think you're just going to have to bite the bullet unless you're able to be patient. I'm not that patient. Good luck.

Order intervals?

Just wondering what city you are all in. Here in Dallas, TX, my local dealer has four Excursions on the lot, three Limited and one XLT. I have seen them there for months and I know for sure they had two of them back in November when I got the alternator fixed in my 98 Explorer.

To answer your question, I am outside of Nashville, TN. The dealers here have plenty of green and white ones. Also there are a few with the small V-8 just sitting around, but I understand the small engine is just a step above a wind-up spring. One dealer, Performance Ford has been running an adv. for three weeks with $7,500 off MSRP. Got no idea what he is trying to sell.

I found a dealer with a slot, stuck the deal in mid- Dec. and the trunk is due at the dealer this Wednesday. I ordered a Limited diesel, 4X4, tow mirrors and Chestnut exterior. All he did was change the options and color (on one he had a slot) to what I wanted and bingo the truck was scheduled for production within ten days.

The one I ordered from the "original" dealer is still showing "Clean and Unscheduled - since 9/3/99 - and this dealer is still telling me he had a slot.

Ahh, that is a good point that I didn't think of. Given the size and weight of this truck, and the very small price difference between the V8 and the V10, I would want the V10 as well. I didn't ask that many questions about the ones he had on the lot, just the trim and price. I do remember that he currently has at least one blue truck and one green truck, but I don't remember what the other two are, didn't look that close since I can't really afford it anyway.

I just ordered my first Ford
an Excursion XLT Arizona Beige, V10, 3.73.

Ordered on 2/15, dealer is telling me 8 weeks.
Anyone waiting on an Excusrion longer than that

Also, those that already have them, what kind of mileage are you getting.
Thanks in Advance

If your looking for an Excursion, come to Texas. I saw an advertisement offering $6000 off sticker which worked out to $1400 UNDER dealer cost. They had 51 vehicles to choose from. Every dealer that I went to had at least 10-15 to choose from. Definitely get the V10. This thing is heavy.

Order intervals?

I placed an order for an Excursion 2wd XLT V10 on 2/17/00. From all the reading I've done about the vehicle and the backlog of orders I was resigned to waiting several months. On 3/10/00 I received an email from my salesman that said "Good news,I already have your Excursion scheduled. Will call you next week with the date". Don't really know exactly what this means, but I do know that 'scheduled' is a good thing!

I suspect that my dealer had an allocation slot for one since they are a fairly big truck dealer (farm country) with only three (including mine) Excursion orders.

The really big dealer in the area is sitting on 6 of them, but like some other dealers they are holding out for close to MSRP. I got mine for 300 over invoice! Hope they have to sit on them.
