i have a 2004 f-350 dually 6.0 150k i recently bought it 6 months ago
a couple weeks ago i got coolant squirts on the windshield so i figured the clutch was bad i replaced the clutch water pump and thermostat OEM the fan had cut the wires to the clutch
i didn't realize the radiator had a tiny crack in it so i replaced that too OEM
i inherited a snap on MODIS from a friend so i use that to monitor my temperatures i live in phoenix so its 110 every day and my ECT ranges from 192-210-214-217 EOT ranges from 233-255-266 i would appreciate any advice on these temps
again outside temps are very brutal here in phoenix
oh and i read somewhere not to overfill your degas i don't know if that's the reason but mine was overfull
that's a bad delta to have and those operating temps are way too high. you might be looking at your engine oil cooler needing to be replaced. as a stopgap and to see if its salvageable, you could try back flushing your engine oil cooler. I have a custom tool I made for this process last year before I upgraded to a BPD External Oil cooler this month and got rid of the OEM Oil Cooler.
Maybe we can figure out a trade, I need to find a 6.0L in Phoenix to test the new FICM I got in, to see if the injector circuit low codes I'm intermittently getting are coming from there or from my injectors. . . I'd be happy to give you the backflush tool I created.
As I posted in the other section of the forum, with deltas that high I would want to flush the coolant system, then change the oil cooler after the flushing. I doubt an oil cooler back flush is going to help your cause permanently.
Are those coolant temps before or after you replaced water pump, fan clutch, thermostat, and radiator?
Are you towing or hauling heavy loads, or is that just with the weight of your butt and a full tank of gas?
Highway driving in Fort Worth the last few weeks, with temps in the 80-106 range but mostly around 100 degrees, my coolant temps haven't gotten over 207 and that's after WOT blasts up hills mostly, or getting off the highway and sitting at stop lights. Once I back off or start cruising 80 mph it comes down pretty quickly to 192. That's with just my butt and maybe 400 lbs of tools in the back.
You could try a three row radiator from IPRresearch.com, Dieselsite or BPD higher volume water pump, and/or snow plow fan clutch. Sucks you just replaced all this stuff without asking first, but that's the way it goes sometimes. There is also the blue wire mod that allows you to manually turn the fan on high-speed with the flick of a switch, and at low cost.
As for oil temps, the BPD air to oil cooler is something I've been drooling over for years but is ungodly expensive. Whatever you do, a massive coolant flush and new oil cooler is the best you're gonna get for performance/cost. I am in agreement with Chuck regarding back flushing most likely doing nothing at this point with those temps.
i drained the degas down to appropriate level and that made a big difference now my deltas are 20-30 difference instead of 50
and my ect is vert stable 192-201
im going to flush it then probably change and relocate cooler
thank you all for your help
i did that step by step 2x now my ect is 192-197 im very pleased with that but my eot is still hitting 250 in the mountains with no load i am going to have to dive in to the oil cooler this weekend
i wish there was an easy external cooler i could put on until i have the time to take the top of the motor off

That would be nice. Bullet Proof Diesel makes an external cooler kit, but it’s too pricey for my wallet. If I ever have to do the oil cooler again I may reconsider.
