I currently have 3.54 gears in my 1973 F100. I want to find something more highway friendly, like a 2.73 or 3.08 center section.. What I need to know, is what axle code I need to look for,to get what I need. Also, what years will work, and what axle spline count I need.I do not do any towing, it is mainly for cruising
I made a trailer from rear half of a '79 automatic 351M wrecked F-150, I believe it had 2.75:1 when I removed them. Maybe was 2.73:1 .... was a good 30+ years back.
I guess I should have kept them? I am totally happy with my trucks 3.50 rear, from Main to Alabama, south Georgia, points in between, but 60-63 is the sweet spot.
