Today I was driving roughly 50mph, got some pretty bad death wobble. My front passenger shocks have been leaking for a while so I knew it was coming.
First, do bad shocks cause death wobble?
Second, I don’t know where to begin looking for shocks. Need something with decent quality but don’t have a lot of spare cash right now to throw at it. I’ll try and post a pic for reference of the current ones
Bad shocks do not directly cause death wobble, but the resultant uncontrolled suspension action that bad shocks let happen can certainly allow something else to start/ cause the wobble. Definitely some older aftermarket parts going on there. Judging by the long bump stop extensions, I'm guessing this truck has a pretty good amount of lift in it too.
Take one of the existing shocks off the truck, then measure the collapsed and extend length, from there you can go shock shopping with that information. You might be able to find some budget friendly shocks that'll work for awhile (like rough country , skyjacker, etc), but the old saying "you get what you pay for" is true most of the time.

Thanks for the info.. What else should I check that might've caused the wobble?
And yes, its got a 6" lift I believe, and have had these shocks since I bought it in 2017
Maybe it’s just the picture, but it looks like the tires may be a bit choppy on the inside. May want to also look at ball joints, tie rods, and definitely agree with the steering damper and new shocks.

Death wobble is most commonly caused by insufficient caster angle. Loose/ worn ball joints, track bar joints, steering joints, a bad (or non existent) steering stabilizer, or a loose steering gearbox allow the wobble to continue such that it becomes an issue. With the truck sitting still on a hard surface have someone turn the steering wheel while you're under the truck looking at where stuff moves/ identifying potential excessive play in the various joints is a good place to start.

Do you have a single or double steering stabilizer? I’m new to the 250, but when I put the leveling kit on mine with 35” tires, the first thing I was told to do was put the double on mine. I did, and the difference is immediately worth it. Steering is tight, turns are crazy smooth and SC potholes are not an issue anymore. Hope this helps

this is the link on Amazon. I know some people knock RC, but these are fantastic, and made a night and day difference in my steering, stability and control
